Please join us “On the Lot Again” for our FINAL installment of our famous Parking Lot services at St. Johns!

LAST PARKING LOT WORSHIP SERVICE: October 25, 2020 – 9:30 AM – Reformation!

CALL TO WORSHIP: Psalm 46
Leader: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
People: Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be moved and though the mountains be toppled into the depths of the sea.
Leader: Though its waters rage and foam, and though the mountains tremble at its tumult.
People: The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold.
Leader: There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the
Most High.
People: God is in the midst of her; she shall not be overthrown; God shall help her at the break of day.
Leader: The nations make much ado, and the kingdoms are shaken; God has spoken and the
earth shall melt away.
People: The Lord of host is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold.
Leader: Come now and look upon the works of the Lord, what awesome things he has done on earth.
People: It is he who makes wars to cease in all the world; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, and burns the shields with fire.
Leader: Be still, then, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth.
People: The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold.

OPENING SONG: “In The Garden”
1) I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses. And the voice I hear,
falling on my ear, the Son of God discloses.
Refrain: And He walks with me, and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own. And the joy we share as we tarry there, none other, has ever known.
2) He speaks and the sound of His voice, is so sweet the birds hush their singing; And the melody, that He gave to me, within my heart is ringing.
3) I’d stay in the garden with Him, though the night around me be falling. But He bids me go, through the voice of woe, His voice to me is calling.

GREETING & KYRIE:
Leader: The grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy
Spirit be with you all.
People: And also with you.
Leader: Lord, have mercy upon us.
People: Lord, have mercy upon us.
Leader: Christ, have mercy upon us.
People: Christ, have mercy upon us.
Leader: Lord, have mercy upon us and the whole world.
People: Lord, have mercy upon us and the whole world.

PRAYER OF THE DAY:
Leader: Let us pray together,

People: Gracious Father, we pray for your holy catholic church. Fill it with all truth and peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it; where it is in error, direct it; where in anything it is amiss, reform it; where it is right, strengthen it; where it is in need, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; for the sake of your dear Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
MESSAGE
SONG OF THE DAY: “If I Had A Hammer”
If I had a hammer, I’d hammer in the morning, I’d hammer in the evening, All over this land . I’d hammer out danger, I’d hammer out a warning, I’d hammer out love between My brothers and my sisters, ah-ah, All over this land
If I had a bell I’d ring it in the morning, I’d ring it in the evening, All over this land
I’d ring out danger, I’d ring out a warning, I’d ring out love between  My brothers and my sisters, ah-ah, All over this land
If I had a song, I’d sing it in the morning, I’d sing it in the evening, All over this world
I’d sing out danger, I’d sing out a warning, I’d sing out love between My brothers and my sisters ah-ah, All over this land
I got a hammer, And I’ve got a bell, And I’ve got a song to sing All over this land
It’s the hammer of justice, It’s the bell of freedom, It’s the song about love between
My brothers and my sisters, All over this land

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
LORD’S PRAYER:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
BENEDICTION
CLOSING SONG: “Pass It On”
1) It only takes a spark to get a fire going. And soon all those around can warm up in it’s glowing. That’s how it is with God’s love, once you’ve experienced it, you spread his
love to everyone, you want to pass it on.
2) What a wondrous time is spring (not 2020’s) when all the trees are budding; the birds begin to sing, the flowers start their blooming. That’s how it is with God’s love, once you’ve experienced it, you want to sing, it’s fresh like spring, you want to pass it on.
3) I wish for you my friend, this happiness that I’ve found. You can depend on Him, it
matters not where you’re bound. I’ll shout it from the mountain top, I want the world to know; the Lord of love has come to me I want to pass it on. I’ll shout it from th mountain top, I want my world to know the Lord of love has come to me, I want, to pass, it on…
