OPENING SONG: “Morning Has Broken”
Morning has broken like the first morning;
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird.
Praise for the singing! Praise for the morning!
Praise for them springing fresh from the Word!

Sweet the rain’s new fall sunlit from heaven;
Like the first dewfall on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden;
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass.

Mine is the sunlight! Mine is the morning
Born of the one light Eden saw play!
Praise with elation, praise every morning;
God’s recreation of the new day!

SONG OF PRAISE: “Lord I Lift Your Name On High”
Lord, I lift your name on high. Lord I love to sing your praises.
I’m so glad you’re in my life. I’m so glad you came to save us.

Lord, I lift your name on high. Lord I love to sing your praises.
I’m so glad you’re in my life. I’m so glad you came to save us.

You came from heaven to earth to show the way.
From the earth to the cross, my debt to pay.
From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky
Lord, I lift your name on high!
(repeat the whole thing)

HOLY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 21:23-32
PRAYER OF THE DAY:

Leader: Let us all pray together,
All: God of love, giver of life, you know our frailties and failings. Give us your grace to overcome them, keep us from those things that harm us, and guide us in the way of salvation, through Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. Amen.

MESSAGE
SONG OF THE DAY: “I Am the Resurrection and the Life”

I am the resurrection and the life, he who believes in me will never die.
I am the resurrection and the life, he who believes in me will live a new life.

1) I have come to bring you truth. I have come to bring you life. If you believe then you shall live.

2) In my word all people will know, it is love that makes the spirit grow. If you believe then you shall live.

3) Keep in mind the things that I have said. Remember me in the breaking of the bread. If you believe then you shall live.

CONFESSING OUR FAITH:
Leader: God has made us his people through our Baptism into Christ. Living together in trust and hope, we confess our faith.
People: We believe that God the Father is the source of all that is and all that will be. We believe that Jesus is his messiah, the anointed one set apart to be the savior of all mankind. Through his suffering, death, and resurrection he has atoned for all sin. Because of this he will be our judge and our hope at the end of time. We believe that the Holy Spirit empowers the Church to be God’s family. The Spirit calls us, inspires us, sanctifies us, gathers us together, and unites us interceding before the Father for all that is purposeful, true and right for our lives. God, three in one is good, and holy, and true. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
LORD’S PRAYER:

All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

BENEDICTION
CLOSING SONG: “I Love to Tell the Story”

I love to tell the story of unseen things above
Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love
I love to tell the story because I know ’tis true
It satisfies my longings as nothing else can do

[Chorus]
I love to tell the story,
‘Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story
Of Jesus and His love

I love to tell the story, ’tis pleasant to repeat
What seems each time I tell it more wonderfully sweet
I love to tell the story for some have never heard
The message of salvation from God’s own holy Word

[Chorus]

I love to tell the story, for those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest
And when in scenes of glory I sing the new, new song
‘Twill be the old, old story that I have loved so long
