Pastor Jody was ordained in 1983 by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) after completing the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia PA. He is celebrating his 35th year at St. John’s where his unconventional approach to leadership blends humor, contemplation, and straightforward conversations. Known as the “singing pastor”, he leads a vibrant and engaging service and regularly plays guitar in services and community gatherings where he reinvisions traditional hymns, integrates contemporary songs, and writes his own songs for church and special services! Pastor Jody has performed hundreds of baptisms, weddings, and (sadly) funerals as minister of St. John’s. His wife, Kim, has been involved in the church from that same time, and was the Sunday School Director for many years. She now is active in the children’s music ministry at St. John’s. Pastor Jody and his family are excited about St. John’s new contemporary service on the second Sunday of every Month, and extends his warm welcome to friends, visitors, and guests whether you come for one Sunday, when your schedule allows, or each and every week.

As an embodiment in faith, Pastor Jody believes that the giving of oneself to the church fully and completely, and this is how he has approached his decades of service at St. John’s. From visiting the sick and being present during life transitions to celebrating new life and marriages, Pastor Jody and his wife Kim welcome and cherish each stage of life for members and friends of the church.
